Redcar properties It adds another 47,300 square feet to the growing office development footprint in Santa Monica, California.
The Coastal City Planning Commission voted unanimously to support Redcar’s plan to build the creative three-story office building, complete with a public cafĂ© and two levels of underground parking, in 1630 Euclid Street.
The car park will be connected via another adjacent Redcar development already under construction, and adds to the range of properties the company owns in the vicinity.
1630 Euclid will be Timber block A building using wood that absorbs and stores carbon dioxide. Building collective wood structures results in less pollution and waste during the manufacturing process, and the construction schedule in this case is four months faster than concrete or steel, according to project representatives at a planning committee meeting Wednesday.
Laura DorgesThe company is also undertaking another massive lumber project in the city, he said, the head of development for Santa Monica-based Redcar Properties, completing the Cross lumber project in Los Angeles’ Chinatown.
“In Santa Monica alone, we own more than 15 buildings, and they are in various stages of design, construction, or operation,” including eight projects along Euclid Avenue and 14th Street, Dorge says. “I think we’ve shown that we really take on this whole city here and make improvements that will not only benefit our projects but those around us.”
